Student Testimonial
I have always had an interest in complementary therapies and
have read around the subject as a hobby. I had a Gentle Touch
Reflexology treatment at my local beauty spa from an ex-student
of Sue Ricks' School and was really impressed by its soothing,
calming effect. I decided then, that I would like to train as
a reflexologist, as I felt that I could reach a wide spectrum
of people, such as the elderly, children, men and women alike
and hopefully, make a difference to their well-being.
Throughout the Practitioner Course, I feel I have grown and learned
so much, it's hard to know where to start. I have gained new skills
and knowledge about the human body and its amazing power to heal
itself, as well as vital information about nutrition, coping with
stress and working with energy - on many different levels. I have
found new ways of thinking about life and its journey, as well
as methods of protecting myself against negativity and environmental
dangers. I have learned the art of giving a gentle, effective
reflexology treatment and have practiced this, gaining confidence
in my own abilities, when, at the beginning I thought I would
never be able to master the techniques, or remember the routine!
The feedback I gain from my clients makes me feel valued and
I know I am making a difference to their lives in some way. I
have built up some really good relationships with clients and
I enjoy the one-to-one rapport we have. I usually feel energised,
or relaxed after a treatment, depending on the client, so I know
I am gaining a benefit too. It is so rewarding to see the healing
response 'first hand' with a client, and to watch them improve
over the course of a few treatments.
One of the main things I have learned is that reflexology is
about so much more than touching feet!
I am looking forward to having a part-time career, where I can
choose my clients and hours of work, and fit these around my family
commitments. I feel I will be much more content, knowing that
I can still put my children first, and have a job which I find
rewarding and enjoyable. It has been stimulating and encouraging
to work with a group of like-minded people on the Course and I
have gained so much from sharing in their joys and difficulties
alike. I hope we will remain friends and continue on this journey
together!
