Ear Candling with Sue Ricks

I first found out about ear candling from a tiny piece in a newspaper in 1989. From that time onwards I knew that this was something that would be of great value and help to my family and me. It was a year later that I recognised the tremendous value it would be to my clients and potential clients. This treatment therefore started as a personal journey, with particular benefit to my son.
Over the years I have been incredibly fortunate to see and hear about the very wide range of benefits that clients have experienced after having an ear candling treatment. I use the ear candles now for both my family and clients. I also teach others how to do the same.

What is Ear Candling?
Ear Candles have been used for centuries as a method of providing relaxation, relief from ear, nose and throat problems and for assisting people in a variety of ways. It is a natural, gentle and relaxing centuries-old healing therapy. Originally, it was reported that it was used by the fire-worshipping American Hopi Indian tribe of North Arizona, which is where the name of Hopi Ear Candling comes from. We now refer to it as Ear Candling.
Who Might it Help?
Ear Candling is ideal for all ages, including children. More and more people are discovering the benefits of this simple and effective treatment that may bring relief from a wide range of conditions associated with the ear, nose and throat, such as:
- Ear wax build up
- Hearing issues
- Facial discomfort
- Sinus congestion
- Catarrh
- Glue ear
- Hay fever
- Headaches
- Tinnitus
- Stress & Anxiety
The Candles
- The ear candles are hollow tubes which include a filtering system. I only use the finest and highest quality candles for your benefit. They are made with traditional healing herbs such as sage, camomile, and St John’s Wort, which are blended in honey, organically grown linen (flax) and beeswax.
- All candles are of the highest quality (care has to be taken to use the highest quality candles as inferior and cheaper products are available that may contain harmful ingredients). I use Original Biosun Hopi Ear candles. The ingredients include pure beeswax, honey extracts and organic cotton. These are combined with the powdered herbs that are well known for their healing properties.
- Chamomile –anti-inflammatory
- St John’s Wort – restorative tonic for the nervous system and analgesic.
- Sage- Circulatory stimulant which relaxes peripheral blood vessels.
- Each ear will be treated one after the other.
- I recommend one or two treatments a week for chronic cases with one treatment regularly every month for preventative care and as a restorative.
- Ear Candles are not to be used if someone is suffering from any condition of the ear that requires any medical attention. If in any doubt please seek advice from your medical practitioner or local GP.
- Ear Candle treatments are carried out in relaxing conditions with the client lying down on a couch or reclined specialist chair.
- After the treatment a relaxing massage will be performed to increase the effects of the treatment.

The treatment is a very pleasant experience and many people report how much they have enjoyed the treatment and how much it has helped them. It is a very soothing and relaxing experience.
What does a treatment involve?
The treatment lasts between 45 minutes and one hour. When you come for your first treatment, you will be asked some details about your health, conditions and lifestyle.
|
You will then be asked to lie down on your side on a comfortable couch. I will let you see what it feels like to have the candle placed against your ear. The lit candle is gently placed at the edge of your outer ear to create a seal. I will hold the ear candle firmly in place throughout the process. Whilst holding the candle, my hands will be between you and the flame. You may experience a pleasant crackling sound and a warm, comfortable feeling in your ear during the treatment. The overall effect is very gentle and soothing.
Both ears are treated to equalise and regulate pressure in both ears. The treatment is concluded with a relaxing massage around your ears and surrounding area.
