What is Ear Candle Therapy?

Ear Candle Therapy is a simple treatment that is suitable for adults and children.

It is a natural and gentle therapy that has been used by many civilisations.  It was once thought to have reached modern civilisation via the Native American Hopi Indians of North Arizona which explains the name by which it has been referred however we now call it simply ear candling.

What are Ear Candles?

The candles consist of a hollow tube made out of organic cotton flax which is impregnated with bees wax, honey extracts and powdered herbs that are well known for their potential healing properties. The candles contain:

  • Camomile
  • St John's Wort
  • Sage
Only the highest quality candles are used.

What does a treatment involve?

A Ear Candle treatment lasts for about an hour. It is very soothing and takes place in relaxing conditions.  You will be asked to either lie on your side on a therapy couch or recline in a treatment chair.

The treatment procedure will be explained and you will have the opportunity to ask any questions. You will then see what it feels like to have the candle gently placed in your outer edges of your ear before it is lit and placed to create a comfortable seal. You may experience a gentle cracking sound and a warm soothing feeling in your ear. This is then repeated with another candle being used for your other ear.

Finally you will receive a gentle relaxing massage around your ears, face and neck which reinforces the candles' actions.

The treatment is a very pleasant experience and many clients report how much more relaxed they feel afterwards.

How long does a Treatment Last?

An Ear Candle treatment lasts for approximately 1 hour.   This will include a professional treatment, advice and after-care.
