Complementary
Therapy Clinic Advice for ClientsAll the complementary
therapies offered by the Sue Ricks Complementary Therapy Clinic work on the person
as a whole. The aim of the treatment is to help you and your body to achieve an
improvement in your condition or area of concern. Reactions and Responses
to Treatments Each individual responds differently to treatment in accordance
with their own body's requirements. Some clients may notice a variety of responses
whilst others may not notice any immediate change after the first treatment. This
is perfectly normal. Some clients will, however, experience distinct and noticeable
changes and this is also usual. You may notice an improvement in your condition
or energy levels. You could also feel a little worse before you begin to feel
better. Both of these are common and normal reactions. You may experience slight
headaches, nausea, restlessness, irritability, tiredness or a flare up of current
or old symptoms. These reactions are generally short term and indicate that the
healing process is initiating change. Notes It is advisable
to keep a record of any changes that you notice. These include changes to your
body, your emotional situation your energy levels or any other general comments.
It is helpful to bring this information to subsequent treatments as your observations
are very helpful in providing an understanding of how your body responds to treatment. Fluid
intake With most of the treatments it is advisable to increase your
fluid intake by at least two glasses of water more than you would normally drink
for the few days following your treatment. Rest and Relaxation If
you should feel tired and in need of either sleep or rest following your treatment,
we encourage you to make the most of the opportunity to do this. If your body
asks for rest, please listen. Energy Burst Following a treatment
you may experience a surge of energy. This should be used advisedly. It can feel
marvellous to be able to achieve things that you have been unable to manage previously
but we ask you not to go too far as this may cause you to feel tired and depressed
the following day. Use your extra energy to the best advantage but do not over-do
it. Confidentiality All case history notes, treatment notes
and details concerning your visit are kept strictly confidential. If you have
any areas of concern or wish to discuss any matters arising from your treatment,
please feel free to discuss these during your next treatment. If there are issues
of an urgent nature, please contact the Clinic during normal office hours. Orthodox
Medicine Complementary Therapies are just that - they complement the
way your body heals itself and also complement orthodox medicine. You should continue
to follow any advice/medication given to you by any medical practitioner. Doctors/GPs
and Medication The treatments offered by the clinic do not replace orthodox
medicine and any areas of concern for your health should be addressed to your
GP. If you are being treated by your GP, it is advisable to inform him/her
that you are receiving treatments from the clinic. You do not need their permission
but it is useful to keep them informed. You should inform the clinic therapist
of any medication that you are taking and continue to take your medication as
prescribed. If you have any doubts you should consult the agency/person that prescribed
your medication. Guarantees We hope that you will experience
an improvement in your condition as a result of your treatment, but we make
no guarantees that this will happen in every case. Appointments Please
